There is only one church in Tolland, but it is a congregation with a very rich spiritual history.  But right now they need the prayers of Brothers and Sisters to keep the Christian witness alive in Tolland.  Please read below.

TOLLAND CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH

The Tolland Congregational Church has been in existence since 1810 and celebrated its 200th birthday with the town in 2010.  Gordon Hall, a missionary from this church during its early days, went to Bombay (Mumbai), India, and planted a church there that is still in existence today!  At the 200th celebration, two missionaries from  the church plant in India who had come to serve in Boston, Remesh and Sheba Talore, shared how Gordon Hall’s church plant became theirs in India, and how that church continues to minister today!

But for many years, the church in Tolland was in danger of closing, and the preaching of the Holy Bible ending.  But Donna Calawa, who grew up in Tolland and at this church, along with a small group of remaining members, faithfully continued to meet, pray, preach, and teach.  A picture of a rainbow over the Tolland church that hung in the foyer was a reminder to them that God had not given up on Tolland, or the ministry of the only church in this town.

In recent years, the Congregational church has been a church plant of Bethany Lutheran Church in East Hartland, CT.  They have partnered with some Tolland people who love Jesus, Tolland people, and the church to build it into a more active church family. Bi-weekly Bible studies, prayer meetings throughout the year and summer worship services have moved in this direction. During the pandemic, many difficulties have arisen and much ministry has been curtailed.

Please pray for the life and ministry of this church.  Please pray for God to move mightily through His Holy Spirit to bring revival. Pray that the Good News of Jesus Christ dying on the cross for the sins of the world would never cease to be preached from the pulpit of the Tolland Congregational Church.
